How Humans Outshine AI in adapting to change / Rachel Layne / 26 MAR 2024The article spoke about the relation of artificial intelligence and humans, relating to humans being able to self-orient unlike AI's. Every day we wake up and do simple tasks, we take a quick second to do it because we are so used to doing it every day. This is being self-orient because we are able to think about our own needs and meet them every day. AI is not able to self-orient, and it will be a while before they can, this is what makes robots and humans so different. According to developers, technology needs to improve by figuring out how an AI can learn t deal with unexpected situations like humans who naturally solve problems by filling in gaps. Humans are able to Constantly adapt to a situation unlike AI. What did you learn from the article?I learned that humans actually self-orient way more often than I thought. Something I also learned was that AI's are not capable of understanding situations we can easily understand, that require quick action making. What was most surprising, intriguing, or challenging to you about what you read? What I found interesting was how when the developers tested the AI and humans with giving them a game that could be complete without self-orientation by noticing which avatar was closest to the goal. The game was able to be completed without self-orientation but the humans solve the game buy figuring out which avatar was their "digital self" and get the goal. After this test, researchers said “People were solving everything faster; self-orientation doesn’t seem to exist at all for AI".
